Hi, I'm Skye. 🐾
I'm so happy you stopped by.
My name is Skye, and I'm an Australian Labradoodle with a heart that was made for comforting people. I love gentle hugs, quiet walks, belly rubs, chasing a tennis ball, and simply sitting beside someone who needs a friend. I'm a certified Canine Good Citizen and continue my training as a therapy dog because helping people is what I love most.
Here at Grief, Together, I'll have my very own corner—but it isn't just about me. It's about helping people become better companions to one another through life's losses.
Dogs have a funny way of teaching people things without saying much at all. We notice when someone is hurting. We stay close. We listen without interrupting. We don't rush people to feel better. We simply remind them they aren't alone.
I think people can do that, too.
That's why I'm here.
Together, we'll explore the extraordinary bond between people and animals and the many ways our furry friends teach us about compassion, loyalty, patience, and unconditional love. We'll also talk about one loss that often goes unseen—the loss of a beloved pet—and how we can better understand and support those whose hearts are grieving an animal companion.
But most of all, we'll learn how to care for the people around us.
Whether you're a friend, family member, neighbor, coworker, teacher, pastor, coach, or simply someone who wants to know how to show up well, I hope you'll find encouragement here. Small acts of kindness, thoughtful words, quiet presence, and faithful companionship can make an incredible difference for someone carrying grief.
And one more thing...
Every week, I'll share a little something called 🐾 Skye Says...
Think of it as a gentle pause in your day—a few moments filled with practical ideas, encouraging stories, and simple ways to become more confident in supporting someone through grief and loss.
Some weeks we'll learn from the remarkable relationship between people and animals. Other weeks we'll talk about supporting someone after the death of a loved one, walking beside a friend through a difficult season, helping a child understand loss, or remembering a cherished pet whose paw prints will always remain on someone's heart.
Each Skye Says... will leave you with one simple takeaway—something you can do, say, or remember that helps another person feel seen, cared for, and a little less alone.
Because here's something dogs have always known:
You don't have to have the perfect words to make a difference. You simply have to stay.
I can't wait to spend time with you. Also, reach out if you want me to come to your organization and provide my Therapy Dog skills.
With love and a wagging tail,
Skye 🐾
