Hi, friend!
I'm Skye, the Grief, Together therapy dog, and I'm so glad you're here.
Dogs have a funny way of teaching people things without saying much at all. We notice when someone is hurting. We stay close. We listen without interrupting. We offer comfort without trying to solve the problem.
That's what Skye Says... is all about.
Each week I'll share simple lessons I've learned about showing up for people who are carrying grief and loss. Together we'll discover practical ways to be a better friend, neighbor, family member, coworker, teacher, coach, or church member when someone we care about is hurting.
We'll explore questions like:
What should I say?
What should I avoid saying?
How can I help without taking over?
Why do small acts of kindness matter?
How do I support someone months after everyone else has moved on?
How can children learn compassion by watching us?
Sometimes we'll talk about the loss of a beloved pet. Other times we'll learn how animals teach us about patience, loyalty, presence, and unconditional love—qualities that make us better companions to one another through every kind of loss.
Here's something dogs know that people sometimes forget:
You don't have to have the perfect words to make a difference. You simply have to stay.
I hope each Skye Says... gives you one practical idea, one fresh perspective, and one more reason to walk alongside someone who needs a faithful companion.
I'll be right here, cheering you on...
...one paw print at a time.
With love,
Skye 🐾
